The ARTKRAFT project corresponds to the general objectives of the Cultural Entrepreneurship, Heritage and Cooperation Program, with the aim of increasing access to art for a wider audience, as well as investing in the most valuable capital of the European family - young people. The project creates opportunities for inclusion of more young people in the cultural sector of Haskovo municipality, as well as the presentation of their efforts to create art in small settlements, where access to it is very limited. The potential that art and culture offer for greater social inclusion will be used by engaging children and young people of different ethnicities in cultural and educational activities. The planned activities will be implemented in bilateral cooperation and exchange between an organization from Iceland and Bulgaria and offer an opportunity for the general public to meet contemporary art in an attractive atmosphere and creative environment, incl.: ARTKRAFT FEST, GLOBALLY LOCAL, MUSICAL KALEIDOSCOPE, I - THE ARTIST, ART SCOUTS, INVITATION TO THEATER: Can you believe it?, SAGA OF FIRE AND ICE. In order to increase the professional competencies and skills in connection with the organization and holding of events of art and culture, as well as to attract audiences to the events, it is planned to develop a plan for attracting audiences and training for staff of DKT "Ivan Dimov" - Haskovo. There are also activities for organization and management of the project, as well as information and communication measures aimed at informing the general public and stakeholders about the development of the project, as well as the creation of a product related to the characteristics of the project, its sustainability and results.
Summary of project results
The project unites the efforts of the municipality, the state puppet-drama theater and a non-governmental organization from the city of Haskovo, aiming to achieve cultural diversity of content with an educational focus. The activities include organizing theatrical and musical performances and workshops, educational craft studios, painting workshops and exhibitions) and interaction between professional artists, amateurs and previously uninvolved audiences.
A number of events were held within the project, different from the traditional cultural production in the Haskovo municipality. These new manifestations of art offer new interpretations of existing cultural products, new forms and genres, new spaces and a new synthesis between different forms of art. The activities included the event "I, THE ARTIST" with an exhibition of 6 portraits of Haskovo artists and 1 digital photo story, performances and exhibitions of young talents, 14 craft and creative workshops, a competition for the reproduction of a painting from the collection of the "Atanas Sharenkov" gallery and an exhibition, traveling children''s music schools in small and remote settlements in the region, conducting an educational camp within 7 days for 20 young talents in the fields of theater, rock music, drawing, photography, crafts and creative writing; photographic exhibition "A SAGA OF FIRE AND ICE" by Bulgarian and Icelandic authors, premiere of the play "Can You Believe It?", as the play and part of the photographic exhibition will be created in an art residency for artists and photographers in Bulgaria and will be filmed with subtitles and prepared for presentation in Iceland with an accompanying event, a press conference and a meeting-talk with the artists.
The ARTCRAFT project created opportunities for the inclusion of more young people in cultural life by using the potential that art and culture offer. Investment in ensuring public accessibility to cultural content, respectively education, is a key prerequisite for building a European identity within the community, while preserving the different cultural traditions of the large European family.
Summary of bilateral results
The participation in the project and the responsive cooperation of the partner "North Consulting" (Iceland) contributed to the development of international cultural cooperation and the promotion of diversity in culture and art, through the development of audiences and the engagement of people in various cultural, educational and informational activities.
