Description

Our project is targeted at raising the capacity of Youth Priorities Association to work with vulnerable groups of young people. Many vulnerable young people live in the village of Benkovski and the remaining villages. There are many factors for their situation: a disadvantaged rural area; young people living in poverty; ethnic and religious differences; lack of adequate services; limited employment opportunities. The area needs an organization capable of working with young people, motivating them and supporting them to leave the vicious poverty trap. The project aims at boosting the organization’s capacity (whose team includes young professionals in different fields) to manage in a sustainable way its activity; adapt good practices and innovative methods from Norway, the Republic of Korea and the US for social and economic inclusion of vulnerable groups; set up a youth hub providing young people with adequate training and services; empower young people by including them in the project planning and implementation. A survey carried out by the organization shows that the majority of young people do not have information about opportunities for development and employment – European and national programmes, traineeships, trainings, exchanges, online tools. The target groups are local vulnerable young people aged 14-30. Direct users: the association members who will be trained by and will work together with the organizations Together for Personal Development and TERRAM PACIS Norway.

Summary of project results

The project aimed at building capacity of Youth Priorities Association to work with vulnerable groups of young people by adapting good practices and innovative methods from Norway and building a Youth Hub where young people can receive adequate training and services.

Within the project, trainings were conducted for the team, members and volunteers of Youth Priorities Association for sustainable management of the organization and for working with vulnerable groups of young people. The trainings with the partner organization from Norway - TERRAM PACIS were conducted online due to the travel restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic. The acquired knowledge and skills from the trainings were applied in three workshops organized for local young people from vulnerable groups and in the preparation of organizational documents and procedures. The Norwegian partners have developed a Methodology for working with vulnerable groups of young people "From planning to impact evaluation".

The Youth Hub "Youth Priorities" was established, a website - www.youth-priorities.eu  and a Facebook page of the organization - https://www.facebook.com/youth.priorities, were created.

Thanks to the built capacity of the Youth Priorities Association within the project, the organization has developed and is implementing three new successful projects aimed at vulnerable groups of young people in the village. The young people in the village of Benkovski, district of Kyrdzhali, already have a fully equipped Youth Hub, where they are discussing and implementing ideas for improving the living conditions in the village.
