The initiative aims to network SONORA with Oslo Metropolitan University to exchange best practices, knowledge and experiences in the field of music therapy. The aim for the two countries is to develop the necessary skills and knowledge that will enable them to effectively assist in the psychosocial empowerment of vulnerable groups in diverse and multicultural societies, expand their practices and strengthen the two countries'' relations in the field of music therapy.
Summary of the results
The initiative involved SONORA’s visit to Norway to deliver a lecture on "Music Therapy and Inclusion," conduct a music therapy workshop for OsloMet students, and engage in professional meetings for exchanging practices and exploring future collaborations. The lecture on music therapy as a tool for inclusion received positive feedback, particularly from music therapy colleagues, who appreciated its timely and clear presentation. The workshop on stress reduction through music, imagery, and breathing techniques was well-received by students and professors. SONORA also met with social work professionals to discuss the role of music therapy in social services for vulnerable groups in Norway. Discussions were held on the impact of music therapy on neonatal brain development, and the exchange of ideas with a music therapy department at a music academy focused on recent curriculum changes and the use of receptive music therapy with vulnerable groups. At Oslo University Hospital, the potential for collaboration between Greece and Norway on music therapy practices was explored, with a presentation of the outcomes to take place at an upcoming European Music Therapy Confederation meeting. The visit also included consultations and supervision sessions with students on clinical and professional topics.
