Roma children, youth and families are permanently finding themselves on the edge of society as for the point of view of majority due to poor education, poor positive presentation of the Roma language, Roma culture and general presentation of the public on local, regional and national level. One of the reasons of this situation is poverty, which a high number of Roma people face. As as a result of this Roma people are not themselves able to create wide-ranging values. Recently, there has been intense assimilation of Roma people and this fact meant extinction of Roma identity – Roma language, culture, traditions. Private Primary School and Nursery School enables the children and their parents in Kremnica to find a way and develop their language and through this development strengthen Roma identity and pride to Roma ethnic group. One possible solution is the creation of conditions for implementation of the project goal through boosting of personality and talent strengthening of Roma children. Via discovery of the value of Roma language pupils will discover their own culture and identity in intercultural European context on partnership principle.
Summary of project results
The project covered a range of activities aimed at strengthening the Roma language, identity and coexistence between the Roma minority and the majority: - Summer Camp understanding - - In the footsteps of our identity - - Participating in Tribute Auschwitz and Roma pilgrimage in Gaboltov Educational consultations, educational training for teachers, co-workers, volunteers under the guidance of lecturers from Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra, and to strengthen the cooperation in the next period. Educational and artistic activities- regular participation in the literary drama and music dance- meetings and creative arts workshops and other activities. The results were regularly presented at exhibitions and presentation events locally in Kremnica, regional, national and international abroad (Graz, Koprivnica) and in the Roma locations in Slovakia (Bradejov Kežmarok Lomnicky, Košice- Lunik) Enlightenment stays - weekends are intended to develop awareness, education, communication and community strengthening Workshops - Meeting with personalities from Roma intelligence with Roma students of Kremnica schools Conferences- opening and closing to highlight the importance and significance of the Romany language and its use in the sociaty with the need to set its position in the education process within school systems, educational institutions, and inclusive secondary school with a graduation in Roma language and to strengthen their stability. The Participation, contributions to conferences and roundtables Education within the national project for school stuff Roma culture summer - presentation of successful cultural events of Roma musicians and singers associated with exhibitions and debates. This is a positive presentation of Roma at local and regional level. Activities significantly contributed to the strengthening of getting to know Roma language and culture of the majority population and the Roma.
