Creation of a national network of women's NGOs in the field of violence against women, is an important step for securing systematic help and support for women experiencing violence and their children, as well as an important tool for creating pressure on the Slovak government aiming at meeting its obligations under international and national treaties and documents in this area. This project will contribute to empowerment of women's NGOs, as well as to their stronger voice in advocacy and watchdog activities and promoting system changes in the field of gender based violence. Women experiencing such violence and their children, will benefit from the project. The projects main activity is promotion of networking processes among women's NGOs working in the field of violence against women, which will, in long term, lead to the creation of a formal national network of such NGOs.The project target groups are women's NGOs and women experiencing violence.

Summary of project results

We consider the establishment of a national network of women's NGO working in the field of violence against women an important step towards providing systematic help and support to women experiencing violence and their children, as well as an important tool of creating pressure on the Slovak government to undertake its obligations under relevant international and national documents in this area. The project sustainability is ensured by motivation of the network members and by the strategic plan of network for 2016-2019. The goal of this project was to contribute to support of networking processes with a view to establishing a network of women's NGOS working in the field of gender based violence against women, which would work based on clearly defined principles and clear goals and strategy, as well as clearly defined democratic structures and decision-making processes - a network that would represent the voice of NGOs working in the field of gender based violence against women and of women experiencing such violence. From the long-term, we would like to contribute to the establishment of a formal national network of women's NGOs in future. NGOs were involved in all project activities. The project has contributed to empowerment of women's NGOs and will, in long-term, contribute to their stronger voice when carrying out advocacy activities and promoting system changes in the field of gender based violence, which will eventually benefit women experiencing violence and their children.
