Description
The project is focused on the implementation of knowledge about climate change into environmental education at school, and the implementation of water retention measures in the school area. The objective of the project is to raise environmental awareness at the school in Lučenec. It is expected that the project will create a system of environmental education focused on climate change and water retention.The project will create new curricula and teaching materials that will aim at environment and climate change, building water retention measures, and building an "eco-class" in an outer school area. All students and teachers of school involved in the project are expected to benefit from project implementation.
Summary of project results
The main goal of this project was to increase awareness and education of adaptation to climate change, drought and water management. Updated curricula, teaching and discussing these issues helped the whole school to learn how to sava the environment and show our students the importance of adaptation to climate changes. What is really perfect is that during our lesson it is not necessary to show pictures to students, because we can show them how it really works in practice by showing them our school area. We aslo organised the international conference focused on the climate change and the drought or flood prevention in 2015 which helped to raise awareness among the concerned. We planted new trees in order to catch the humidity and to create a nice environment in the summer heat, rainwater retention from gutter tubes into containers and its usage for watering, the buiding of rainwater gardens, rainwater lakes that absorb rainwater. Water stream refreshes the air and helps prevent a water deficit in summer. The usage of green roof which moderates the heat in summer and keeps cold out in winter. Although we saved much eligible funding during public procurement. all the planned indicators were fulfilled and measures implemented. .
