Description

In line with research on climate change and its impact on society, the project will help to deal with using rainwater on the educational as well as practical level. The objective of the project is to increase the awareness and knowledge regarding adaptation to climatic changes. It is expected that the project will create a system of environmental education curricula focused on climate change and rainwater management. The curricula focused on management of rainwater and climatic changes will be modified for the school education programme. It is also expected to build such adaptation measures as: rainwater garden, underground tank, new planting of trees and sprays irrigation. Mainly children and students will benefit from the project's implementation.

Summary of project results

The project was necessary because of number of reasons, namely because of educational, environmental, aesthetic, health and social reasons. There was nothing similar in our school and in the closer surrounding and there was not enough information about the adaptation to climate change. We managed to achieve the main goal of the project in a full extent. The change that happened is going to ensure the maximum benefit for target groups with estimated sustainability more than 5 years. I suppose that the sustainability will last 20 years. Operative workers are responsible for taking care of plants and using water. We prepared and published the opening and final conference where we informed about the aims and goals of the project, we also prepared a questionnaire for target group, we informed the general public about the project through the media, then we published a brochure / bulletin, in which we inform the local community about hydro-climatic and vegetation actions in our school. The topic about water /significance, protection/ in the range of 3 lessons a year was integrated into the curriculum.
