The aim of this project is to increase awareness and education in the field of climate change adaptation. The objective of the project is adaption to climate change, specifically flood and drought prevention. It is expected that the project will create a system of environmental education curricula focused on climate change and rainwater management. Educational activities focused on environment will be organised. The main target groups are children and students who focus on science and technical areas in the period of decision-making about their future careers . All students and teachers at the school involved in the project are expected to benefit from project implementation. The Forestry Extension Institute in Norway is a partner in the project.

Summary of project results

The project was essential, because the project topics were focused on current issues of today´s times- adaptation to climate change and raising awareness on climate change, the emphasis was focused on expanding the knowledge among students. The project was attended by more than 300 students, who are now familiar with the current problems regarding climate change. In order to achieve the planned aims of the project, the arrangement around the school was carried out - lawn was modified, flowers and trees were planted, benches and flower pots were fitted, there was created the rain garden in the schoolyard - ponds, draft of the rainwater from gutters and downspouts, feed into the rain garden. Conformable with the revised curriculum, we created and printed the textbook and the worksheets, which students use for their study. Through the project we contributed to increased the public awareness and education on climate change adaptation. By the implementation of the adaptation measures we contributed to the capture and use of rainwater, and therefore to unloading of environmental problems. The development of textbooks and worksheets enabled students to obtain information about the environment and climate change adaptation in interesting and attractive ways.
