Description

Slovenia is facing an economic and a business crisis. In response to this the Slovene school wants to be active and to offer education that helps students to be more competitive in the labor market. The idea is to encourage students to think innovatively to acquire new business ideas, to give them practical knowledge about entrepreneurship and to improve their employability. With the current circumstances and challenges, teachers are met with new pedagogical, didactic and organizational approaches, which require additional practical training abroad. The latter is the principal purpose of this project. Cooperation between the Secondary Vocational and Technical School in Slovenia and Askim Videregaende Skole in Norway will promote mutual understanding between the two countries, enhance social inclusion and strengthen human resources. The Norwegian partner already has experience in the field of teaching entrepreneurship, and new teaching models are already well-designed and recognized, so their role will be the exchange of practice and methods, and transfer of good practice to Slovene teachers.

Summary of project results

In year 2013 our school started to work in a Company program (JA-YE). We needed to wider our knowledge and had the experience of good practice. The objective of the project was to obtain more competences to implement program in the school curriculum. Achieved: Acquired knowledge is used in the introduction of entrepreneurship in school subjects, and the implementation of the JA-YE Company program (ZZSPM – Anton Kokalj) over Slovenia. The expected outcome of the project was acquired knowledge and experience ‘learning by doing’. Achieved: Participants are more competent to implement program and are able to better contribute to the program. The result is - more schools are involved in the program each year and slowly national institutes are getting involved. Outputs: - establishment and strengthening of the international exchange of knowledge - acquire new knowledge and skills - improve the qualifications and skills of teachers through non-formal education - continuation of the international activities of the project JA-YE Company program. Using the knowledge gained shape the vision of further work and gradually introduces entrepreneurship in the curriculum.

Summary of bilateral results

JA-YE Norway has extensive experience in implementing the program of entrepreneurship. The Askim videregående skole in Askim was able to provide transfer of good practices and exchange of knowledge in the field of introducing entrepreneurship in school curricula. Under the partnership, 6 employees of Secondary Vocational and Technical School Bežigrad – Ljubljana participated in mobility through which they gained new knowledge and experience. Through the newly established international friendships we continue cooperation. With partners from the donor we established a new project in the field of ICT. We are also cooperating with JA Norway through project Company program. Collaboration has continued beyond the life of project for the two organizations – JA Norway and JA Slovenia (ZZSPM). Together with representatives of Norway - Slovenian cooperation we want to prepare educational seminar for all those in Slovenia interested in this field.
