Description

The rehabilitation of the municipality's historical center and the diversification of the activities in the area is a strategic priority for Slatina City Hall, one of the project proposals established by the "Strategy for Sustainable Development of Slatina Municipality, Action Plan 2009 - 2015" being the rehabilitation of heritage buildings. Through the technical solution proposed by the project a multifunctional space will be created, where any type of artistic, cultural or social manifestation can be organized, with a maximum capacity of 200 people and last generation equipment. The events that will be organized in this area will be oriented toward a direction of promoting intercultural, interactive events, for the entire community, regardless of their culture, ethnicity or special characteristics of its members. Therefore, through the project, the rehabilitation of a historical monument and his capitalization by giving it back to the general public is proposed in order to develop cultural and social activities, at the same time with the Slatina's community development by increasing the tourist attractiveness of Slatina, especially cultural tourism.

Summary of project results

Through the implementation of this project the restoration of an important historical monument was achieved together with its integration in an international public circuit. Besides the restoration, the project included the creation of a multifunctional space, where any type of artistic, cultural or social manifestation can be organized, with a maximum capacity of 200 people and with last generation equipment. The events that will be organized in this area will be oriented toward promoting intercultural, interactive events, for the entire community, regardless of their culture, ethnicity or special characteristics of its members. During the project implementation a strategic development plan for a period of 5 years was also developed. During the opening ceremony of the Victoria Intercultural Atelier six events were organized promoting multiculturalism and tolerance towards minorities, including Roma.

Summary of bilateral results

The project partner was directly involved into the drafting of the development plan and transferred its expertise in this area by coordinating the entire process. Furthermore, a study visit was organized in order to improve the knowledge and understanding between the parties. During the study visit in Iceland the project promoter and project partner held meetings with other organizations from the Donor State on issues concerning international cultural collaboration and interculturality. The opening event of Victoria Intercultural Altelier was also coordinated by the experts designated by the project partner who transferred expertize in the field of intercultural events. The project results were promoted also through the project partner, thus strengthening the bilateral cooperation.
