Description

In Romania, more and more children are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. This children need society involvement to have real chance of recovering and integration. The main objective of the project is to develop the organizational capacity to interest new members and volunteers in order to multiply the recovery services necessary for the social integration of the ASD children and for facilitating the access of their families to complete information about the initiation / support of the recovery program. Following the project implementation the number of persons involved in Help Autism activities will be: 50 new volunteers, 50 new members registered in the Association, involved in decision-making activities of organization, fundraising and counselling of the families of the Association. They will be involved in offering feed-back on the on-line portal, an instrument developed within the project, for the benefit of the non-governmental environment and of the social services.

Summary of project results

The aim of the project was to develop a set of organisational skills in order to attract new members and volunteers in the organisation. Working with more members and volunteers was needed in order to multiply the recovery services useful for the social inclusion of children with ASD and to provide the access to complete information for their families during the recovery programme. Due to the projects’ activities, the number of volunteers involved has increased with 50 more persons, mainly students and graduates. They implemented activities that supported the recovery services for children with TSA. For example, the 2% fundraising campaign was carried out and the HESI Centre of Help Autism Association was supported due to the volunteers involved in the project. 50 new members registered and now they support the decision making activities within the organisation, as well as the case management process, the evaluation and the working procedures development, the fundraising activities and the consultancy offered to the families. They were also involved in offering feedback regarding the www.autismconnect.ro website. The website is an online instrument developed within this project, intended for the nongovernmental sector, the parents of the children with ASD, as well as for therapists and social recovery services. During this project 100 parents were counselled and 500 persons were informed regarding the services developed and the online platform. Counselling for 14 new employees in providing services was carried out. 143 children benefited from such services as ABA therapeutic intervention, physical therapy, speech therapy and swimming. 116 children were assessed and benefited from the services developed by the project. The communication campaign proved to be very efficient, having the online platform www.autismconnect.ro as a central point. It had around 30000 views, while the Facebook page has gathered more than 3000 likes.
