Summary of project results

Although a recent study commissioned by Petrom shows that the main expectancy of the NGOs towards the private companies is linked to the financial support of the latter, very few small organisations are able to access this kind of financing. Therefore, the project aimed at increasing the visibility of NGOs from Brasov Region, to develop their capacity to fundraise and to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experience between them. 80 representatives from 40 NGOs have attended 5 modular courses, learning how to better communicate and how to manage relations with other stakeholders. The beneficiaries have learned how to attract funds from the community and how to apply financial management instruments. They have developed fundraising plans, but also means on how to involve the media in promoting and supporting NGOs’ activity in the community. These are available on the online platform of the project, in order to serve as inspiration for other NGOs. The online platform created within the project has the role to facilitate the communication between the 40 NGOs and the exchange of experiences and best practices. The platform contains the training handouts on Communication and Public Relations, as well as Fundraising and Financial Management. Through this platform the community can communicate with the 40 NGOs from Brasov Region. The beneficiaries have attended a seminar, during which they have developed a monitoring and evaluation plan for their organisations, as well as a fundraising plan. The project mapped the NGOs from the Brasov Region, creating a map and an online application, registering 259 nongovernmental organizations from Brasov city and another 41 from Brasov Region. During the project, the first NGOs fair in Brasov was organized. A total of 40 NGOs have attended the event and it has been visited by over 2,000 people, increasing visibility of the participating NGOs. The 40 NGOs received 80 volunteers for a day in order to involve them in the NGOs activities. The volunteers understood the role of NGOs in the community and how they are organised and how these work. The project has also created a bridge between the NGOs and community through a documentary film and a public awareness campaign that has highlighted the role and impact of the NGOs in the community. During the project, the community gained a high level of confidence regarding the sector.
