Summary of project results

The project „MindReset.Net – national mental health network” was implemented by Estuar Foundation in partnership with Romanian League for Mental Health in order to increase the capacity of network members to contribute to the development of mental health public policy and also to develop programmes and services addressed to the needs of people with mental health problems. A network having 24 member associations was formed, with a mental health advisory committee of 10. A strategic planning process, a training programme for 23 employees of the network members, an advocacy campaign were carried out. Also, a public policy document on the development of mental health services was published; a forum and a mental health conference, meetings and roundtables with policymakers and local authorities were organised. A visibility campaign was conducted and specific materials were created and distributed, increasing the visibility of the network and the mental health actions towards various stakeholders and the general public. Thousands of people received useful information on mental health issues and related services in Romania. An interactive map of mental health services was published online and became popular among stakeholders. All these results had a direct contribution to stimulating the dialogue between authorities and network members. The project gave a cohesive voice to the national mental health movement in Romania in order to become more influential the field of policy-making. It succeeded by developing a large network that, due to sustained efforts, managed to produce two relevant position documents regarding the situation of mental health patients in Romania. These documents were presented and discussed with national, regional and local government stakeholders. In the near future, a federation for mental health issues, based on the efforts and the achievements of the MindReset.Net network, is planned to be formally established by the present members.
