Description

Project description: Motoplast deals with supplies of parts for transport products, at present plastic parts for buses and trams. Projects assumes replacement of the hitherto laminates with SPC and to promote these products at the time of new implementations in transport. SPC means that both the warp and the reinforcing fibre is made of the same kind of polymer thus, from the view of the chemical composition, the material is homogeneous. Project objectives: • Diversify Motoplast’s business activity into other markets • Extending the offer with green products Outcome indicators: • Number of environmental technologies successfully applied for use in new areas - 2 • Green jobs created – 10 new green jobs • Reduction of styrene emission - 1 134 kg/ year

Summary of project results

The project was focused on creation of a new production line and replacement of the currently used laminates with SPC type material, characterized by greater strength and lighter weight. This will enable reduction of the weight of vehicles, and hence lower energy consumption and exhaust gas emissions. The new production line was prepared in close cooperation with the Poznan University of Technology. The new products are very attractive for Motoplast’s clients due to lower price and improved qualities, such as lower weight, strength, aesthetics, and accuracy of performance or recycling possibility. Realisation of this project will cause reduction of styrene emission by 1 134 kg/year and lower CO2 emission. The investment leaded to creation of more than 10 new full time jobs.
