Description

The project objective is to increase the capacity of public services to prevent illegal migration and to strengthen institutional cooperation in the field of migration and asylum with particular focus on vulnerable groups. Project provides for the coverage of Border Guard, Office for Foreigners and voivodeship offices personnel with coherent training system that includes provisions, case law and practical implementation of tasks in the field of migration and asylum taking into account procedures related to persons who belong to vulnerable groups. In addition, complementary measures aimed at exchange of international experience and good practices in the teleinformation systems and migration were also planned.

Summary of project results

The main objective of the project was to increase the capacity of public services to prevent illegal immigration and to strengthen institutional cooperation in the field of migration and asylum with a particular focus on vulnerable groups. The partnership with the Office for Foreigners and the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration resulted in a series of training sessions and seminars regarding e.g.: practical aspects of applying the Code od Administrative Procedure to proceedings against foreigners; team management in extraordinary situations; the role of the authorities in proceedings related to applications for international protection; building and improving intercultural competences; foreigner identification rules; social and cultural aspects of communication with foreigners from Southeast Asia and East Asia, North Africa, Middle East and the Persian Gulf, as well as Indian subcontinent. The project included 1629 individuals participated in the training sessions and thematic seminars. Moreover, 496 Border Guard officers participated in language courses. The project contained two study visits aimed at exchanging experiences with the Norwegian partner. Furthermore, a mobile exhibition entitled "multicultural Image of the World" was organised as well as an international conference in Gdansk for the migration services of European Countries.

Summary of bilateral results

The cooperation resulted in the exchange of good practices and assistance in the preparations and implementation of trainings. Partners have also met during the study visits.
