In Iceland there are problems in ignorance in the area of Polish silent movies that are classics and unknown works and not hitherto shown in Iceland, a lack of access to some Icelandic films thereby resulting in a near total ignorance in the area in Poland, awareness about Icelandic culture in Poland and lack of opportunities of showcasing it in an innovative and diversified way. The objective of the project is to organize film and music events, exhibitions and meetings, in Poland and Iceland as well as to improve the quality of cooperation between institutions, support intercultural dialog, increase active participation in culture among the population, and broaden the cultural offer and diverse cultural activities. By realizing film showings (Polish and Icelandic films) with the participation of the Icelandic partner, website, meetings, lectures, panels with representatives of both countries the project will promote the development of intercultural dialog and the reinforcement of bilateral relations between the Donor State and Poland. More projects are planned with the Reykjavik Film Academy - project partner (film screenings, meetings, joint cultural initiatives).

The Academy has close ties with the movie theater Bíó Paradís (also located in Reykjavik) where the events in Iceland will take place.

Summary of bilateral results

The project will continue after completion whereas the goals will be achieved. Project events will strengthen contacts between institutions and support the continuation of joint ventures in the future (e.g. by creating a cyclical or even annual cooperation at the event in Iceland – the Polish film days). All events planned in the project will serve the future development and improvement of cooperation between the National Film Archive and the Partner, both during as well as after the completion of the project. The extensive cooperation during the organization of cultural events may result in the development of the film archives of both countries (Poland and Iceland).
