Description

My Green HOME aims to increase the quality and effects of education in the field of biological variety and the protection of ecosystems in Poland. It also aims to increase social awareness of biological diversity and to promote education on climatic changes and the economic value of ecosystems. The project objective is to broaden knowledge on the use of renewable energy sources and to increase social awareness of environmental protection in Poland. The increase in knowledge and awareness is expected to lead to the widening of some protected areas of nature, to a greater involvement of local communities in matters related to the planning of infrastructure, and to a change people’s lifestyle priorities. The participants in the project will have the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills in the field of natural sciences through direct and active participation in the planned educational activities. The activities include workshops, special activities groups, trips to environmental centers, eco-picnics, and lectures on pro-ecological subjects. The support is intended for kids and youths at the age of 4-19 including some wards of a kindergarten in Wroclaw.

Summary of project results

All activities planned within the project have been implemented, the final report has been approved. Results of implementation of the entire project: Increasing environmental awareness and public awareness of biodiversity (Number of people who have participated in educational activities and promoting the conservation of biodiversity: 1 949); development of social attitudes and ecological behavior and increase public involvement in the protection of biodiversity and ecosystems. The project involved improving the quality of provision and outcomes in the field of biodiversity and ecosystem protection in Poland. It encouraged preschoolers and students for exploring the world in its complexity, showed power of self-learning, inspired for researching, tought to express their own thoughts and experiences, arouses cognitive curiosity, motivated to continue education and activities for environmental protection in cooperation with other institutions active in the field of education. For the fulfillment of the the assumed goals, there were organized a large number of activities involving the participation of children from institutions supported by the project, such as trips to national parks and landscape parks, visits and workshops in academic and instructional facilities in Wrocław, natural science workshops and its related branches workshops, special interest clubs, lectures, conferences, eco-picnics. During the project the classrooms was being renovated for the needs to organize in them natural and floristic rooms, labs with renewable energy sources and the „My Green HOME" laboratory. The rooms were equipped with modern equipment to facilitate students to acquire new knowledge in, attractive, active way (eg boards and multimedia projectors, 3D printer, specialized equipment enabling experimentation and learning sources and renewable energy resources). At schools was created learning paths available for Wroclaw’s preschoolers, students and the local community. Apart from the initiatives addressed to a direct target group - schoolchildren of four educational institutions in Wrocław – the project implemented a campaign of information-promotion. Within the campaign there were held conferences, leaflet and poster actions, publication of articles, press releases and eco-picnics.
