Description

Extensively used wetland meadows and pastures are one of our most valuable types of ecosystems. Each of the habitats is related to a specific group of rare and endangered species of flora and fauna. Wetlands have traditionally been used as meadows and pastures. In our climate wetland meadows and pastures depend on extensive agricultural management. The purpose of our project is to restore the proper conservation status of wetland meadows and pastures in selected Nature 2000 areas. Through our efforts these areas will remain open and high biodiversity will be maintained. The ecological effect of the project will be the restoration of wetland habitats on 341 acres of Nature 2000 areas. The first step is to mow reeds, remove shrubs and young trees. Through this step the landscape will be opened and hydrological conditions will begin to improve. The next step will be the restoration of extensive agricultural use by introduction regular mowing. After the project is completed mowing will be gradually replaced by grazing animals. The project will be benefit local community.
