Description

The project is needed because the Biała River Valley is an ecological corridor of national and regional significance, which provides connectivity among NATURA 2000 areas with the continental. However the inhabitants do not always appreciate its importance. This low environmental awareness reduces the value of the natural valley. The aim of the project is to increase public awareness and to create for the region's inhabitants a sense of responsibility for the preservation of natural and socio-economic development for future generations. The project is expected to prevent the degradation of the Biała River Valley. The aims of the project will be achieved through raising awareness, organising conferences and workshops, and creating handouts. There are also many activities which are targeting children, teachers and the broader society around the Biała River Valley. The people expected to benefit from the project are society of the Biała River Valley, visitors, teachers, students, and local governments.

Summary of project results

The overall goal of the project has been achieved. All project indicators have been achieved. The number of people involved in educational activities and promoting the protection of biodiversity has reached the value of 42,359 people. Value of the indicator - the number of non-governmental organizations conducting activities related to the conservation of biodiversity has reached the value of 1. There were 15 educational tools used to increase public awareness of biodiversity. During the project, two conferences, 140 pieces of educational activities for children, four workshops for teachers, eight workshops for residents, one meeting for people working in local government were organized. A river festival was organized and an event - stories with the river. During the project, information and promotional materials were developed and printed. Implementation the project has significantly contributed to increasing awareness of biodiversity.

Summary of bilateral results

The implementation of the project has deepened knowledge in the field of nature conservation. It was also an opportunity to establish cooperation with representatives of Donors, which in the future will probably be continued.
