Description

Within the framework of the project, a range of research activities will be carried out. As a result of these activities, it is planned to introduce a new and innovative product, which will ensure significant contribution to the faster development of the market of diodes and luminophores. After achieving the aim of the project, SIA LED Chemicals customers, i.e. manufacturers of light-emitting diodes, will be offered an innovative and highly efficient solution, which will allow them to reduce the production costs of light-emitting diodes and ensure other benefits, thus ensuring competitive advantages. In turn, they will become more affordable and attractive for the end users of light-emitting diodes, both households and industrial merchants. The result of the project implementation, positive influence on the national economy of Latvia and economic growth will be ensured, taking into account the following assumptions: (a) to create at least 5-6 new workplaces, thus stimulating employment in the country, (b) to make significant State tax payments from carrying out business activities, thus significantly supplementing the revenues of State and local government budgets and (c) planned to be 100% exported to European and American markets, project implementation will promote the growth of foreign trade balance. LED lighting has lower amount of CO2 emissions than with halogen bulbs, incandescent bulbs and energy-efficient bulbs. LED lighting does not require special utilisation, since it contains no substances harmful for the environment. Pursuant to the calculations performed by GE Lighting, LED diodes allow for saving 50-70% of energy, as compared to halogen bulbs or incandescent bulbs.

Summary of project results

The start-up company Led Chemicals Ltd. within the Norway grant programme in Latvia developed an innovative produce in lightening field - a remote luminophore for light-emitting diodes, which improves their quality, reduce energy consumption, increase their service life and efficiency, as well as reduces the prime cost and price of light-emitting diodes. The new product has a potential LED production market as unique remote luminophore has been developed which is capable of partially or fully eliminating the aforementioned deficiencies and issues typical for the existing solutions of LED luminophores. The company need additional investments in order to produce the new produce in bigger amounts and introduce it into to the market.

Summary of bilateral results

Partnership has been terminated due to the fact that development of the new product took much longer time and many project implementation activities had to be cancelled.
