Description

Under the auspices of the project, SIA “Ceļu būvniecības sabiedrība “Igate”” will introduce a new bituminous mix production technology. This technology will reduce the environmental impact by using road construction waste – reclaimed asphalt pavement – in the production process, thus reducing the waste stream. Another important improvement in the technology allows production and laying of bituminous mixtures at lower temperatures (about 30°C), which will allow a reduction in fuel consumption, thereby reducing greenhouse gases and other harmful emissions. The target group of the Project is the company's current and potential customers. The company has a stable and diversified customer structure, most of the customers are local governments, VAS “Latvijas Valsts ceļi” and AS “Latvijas valsts meži”. After introduction of the new technology it is planned to start exports to Lithuania.

Summary of project results

Project promoter’s core business is road, street, square, and forest road construction. The company is one of the biggest in this field in Latvia. Taking in to account the huge use of bituminous in road construction process, the company within the project ensures more environmental friendly attitude by purchasing equipment that produce bituminous mixture containing recycled material and warm mix asphalt. The actual savings of the volume of mineral materials and bitumen will be 20%, a reduction in harmful emissions will be achieved:, SO2 – 20%, volatile organic compounds -
