Description

The project aims to improve the quality of life to the low income families and families living in rural areas, as well as to the people living in social care institutions by means of widening their outlook and educational possibilities and by involving them in the process of territory planning.” The target groups are children coming from low income families living in rural areas, low income families living in rural areas, people living in social care institutions, including people with disabilities. The main activities of project are: - A set of activities “Values” - A set of creative summer workshops “Look Ahead!” - A set of activities “Beyond the Skyline” - Experience exchange and cognitive trips - Creation of an active relaxation track - Creation of a traveling exhibition and its presentation in self-governments and social care institutions - Summing up and dissemination of the methodical material “Beyond the Skyline”.

Summary of project results

The main task of the Project was to improve the quality of life to the children of families with low income and families living in countryside, as well as to the people living in the institutions of social care through widening their world outlook and education possibilities by means of involving them into process of planning the development. The target group of the project were children and their involvement in process of development planning of native village, pagasts and novads. Social exclusion and poverty and at risk population (214), including: 117 children, 27 families with children, 20 persons with disabilities, 50 social care institutions, persons living. As well as NGOs representing the above groups of people's rights and interests, including: 20 members. The following results have been achieved: • The set of activities called “Values”, in which the participants got deeper insight into the interesting places of their village, its history and outstanding people. • The set of creative summer workshops called “Look Ahead!”, carried out during one most exciting week in summer when the participants in each of the 5 villages had a possibility to get involved in process of doing and making things they had neither seen nor done before. • The set of activities called “Beyond the Skyline” with its main task – each participant makes his or her own presentation (model) called “The Future of My Village”. • 6 participants from each of the 5 groups took part in the cognitive experience exchange trip to Madona. • Setting up a track for active relaxation in the village of Vipe. • Establishment of a traveling exhibition and presentation - exhibition showcases 100 children / young people's perceptions, ideas and wishes of the territory development. It organized the presentation of the exhibition event. The exhibition demonstrated three social care institutions. • Project publicity - 1 project start-up workshop, 10 presentations and informative events, a project website, press releases sent out of 5, 5 publications. All project activities are focused on this group of quality of life that this enhancement tool offering training on substance leisure activities, volunteering. As well as an innovative approach - attractive and target group needs adequate participation in spatial development planning. In addition, based on the results of this project it is already being developed in an international project with partners from Finland and Iceland.
