Description

The project will provide support to families with children and young people subjected to social exclusion risks in the Krāslava Region, promoting the understanding of a full functionality of the family system and non-violent attitude, promoting family stability and activity, and eliminating violence in the community. The project uses a new innovative approach eliminating violence. It envisages a set of measures to improve family conditions and reduce violence problems: preventive and educative measures (operating support groups), crisis centre services, specialist support, which will directly affect the target audience, improving professional competence of the specialists who work with these issues. Special focuses will be put on setting up a system of support groups. The target group is families with children and young people with disabilities who have been abused in the family, and the abusers.

Summary of project results

Objective of the project was to offer support to families wiht children and youngsters who are under the risk of social exclusion, to foster their understanding onfunctioning of a full family system with a non-violent communications. In order to achieve this, in the framework of the project, a work grroup of professionals was initiated elaborating an action programme for support groups and presenting it in February 27, 2014, in a seminar of Kraslava specilists working with the target groups. The action rpogramme has been integrated into the webpage of Kraslava municipality www.kraslava.lv and is a available for public as an approbated traiining material in the work with families with children ang youngsters. Basing on the programme and training of the specialists, a system of support groups was created and tested in kralsava townand rural territories. Project has implemented in the premises of NGO Family support centre "Atvertiba" and its Crisis centre, situated Pils 5, Kraslava, as well in the whole territory of Kraslava municipality. By implementation of this project, assistance has been given to socially neglected and poor people: 16 youngsters, 113 families with children, 2 person with special needs, 15 persons suffered from the violence, 5 persons who have made violence.
