Description

The project's aim is to maintain and develop the cultural heritage of Latvia promoting the link to the Latvian cultural environment, developing a competitive national identity rooted in the society's creativity and creating a qualitative cultural environment in Latvia. To achieve this it is important to ensure stable long-term development of the RLS and successful work to promote processes of civil society, social justice and democracy in Latvia. Within the project a database of the world's Latvians NGO and schools will be created and maintained, participation in the policy-making and decision making processes ensured, cultural initiatives promoting innovative approach. The project will contribute to the Association's capacity building and attraction of funding.

Summary of project results

Main goal of the Project was to provide a stabule and sustainable development of the RLS and succesful facilitation of development of civil society, social justice democraty and promote integration processes in society. The target groups of the project were NGO participants - 91 member, 6 employees and 36 volunteers. As well as residents (2003) - 183 children and young adults, 35 children and young people with special needs, 87 socially unprotected persons, 32 ethnic minorities (including non-citizens), 66 residents of Vidzeme region, 90 residents of Kurzeme region, 72 residents of Zemgale region 38 inhabitants of Latgale, 1302 residents of Riga and 98 socially vulnerable persons. The following results have been achieved: 1 information platform and database about global Latvian non-governmental organizations and schools, which will provide information exchange between NGOs in the long term, and promote cooperation at the international level, as well as facilitating the repatriation process. Drafted and submitted 8 project applications in various projects in the contest, attracted donations RLS operation and specific objectives. Completed a study and its results publications to achieve a common understanding of the Latvian cultural and historical aspects of the development of civil society and the development of the Latvian national origins to the present day.Organized 5 interactive educational activities (300 participants) for children and young people with families in all Latvian regions. Incentive to tolerance by preventing discrimination, promoting ethnic harmony, intercultural dialogue, folklore, art and educational resources.Organized 2 Concert, charity concerts, charity events-musicians hobby fairs, promotions. Also organized 10 RLS commissions and interest group discussions, afternoon meetings readings or concerts. 10 press releases, one seminar / conference and the project final seminar / conference. The program contributed to the promotional of social sustainability, it realized activities contributed to the development of democracy and equality. Charity events provided the aim of supporting socially vulnerable groups, making it possible to fully integrate into the cultural environment. In all activities were involved different generation groups – children, young people, workers, pre-retirement and retirement age people.
