NGO sector activity is very low In Aglona– out of 18 NGOs registered in the district only 5 are active.There is low social activity, low trust and awareness.Large number of people are still not familiar with tools and activities that can influence events in their lives and in the community,do not see the benefit from cooperation with others and are reluctant to cooperate. The Project will promote civic education, political participation and activate social processes in Aglona and the whole Latgale region. This will be achieved by participating at the county council meetings, public consultations, concluding cooperation agreements with NGOs, exchanging experience, organizing seminars, workshops, conferences, forums, charity events, environmental protection activities, exhibition–market of self-made goods, creating innovative services, supporting creativity competition, etc. Main project target groups are NGO members and local residents.
Summary of project results
Project aimed at promoting civic participation activities in the democratic and participatory democracy, good governance and transparency, as well as environmental and sustainable development fields Aglona district and Latgale region. The Project target groups were 3 NGOs, 61 companion, 3 employees, 12 volunteers and 4225 residents. The following results have been achieved: • Training seminar "NGO good practice" (13 participants), participants improved their knowledge of non-governmental organizations in the field. • Charity-concert "Silent Touch of an angel" (64 participants). It was organized in concert involving Aglona guardians and foster families, in collaboration with Aglona Orphans' Court. • Presenting of motivation lecture series "Es Tev- Tu man" • Forum - ideas competition "Dare to Aglona!" (15 participants). Prepared Forum Regulations submitted 14 ideas. Provides information on the underlying projects and presented the idea of progress • Creative workshop, during which the acquired skills and abilities for creative activities, NGOs involved in the activities of citizens, promoted activities of the association. • Tour guide training program "Tourist Guide" (13 participants). Prepared methodical material - 50 copies. Compiled and updated information about guides Aglona district, as well as set up a database into the Society's website. Operating results of the program changed their attitudes to participation in policy-making, decision-making processes in the municipality, creating a positive attitude towards their environment. Has been providing innovative service maintenance ("Parental resources point", "Volunteering Network", guide service). Society's activities contributed to the development of civil society, the relationship between local governments, schools, non-governmental organizations, entrepreneurs. Special attention action plan was devoted to population training issues - guide training, workshops, classes, "I you - you told me," Society members training. Associations for the further development of great importance was the association strategy 2015.- 2020th year.
