Since the renewable energy sources aren’t sufficiently used for energy production in Latvia, it is important to promote their use. The project's aim is to promote human security during the post–crisis period. This will be done through raising awareness about environmentally sustainable living, energy efficiency measures and the renewable energy usage options in Marupe. This will be ensured through informative seminars and workshops, through sharing theoretical and practical knowledge about energy efficiency and renewable energy resources in the Marupe secondary school and by working on energy efficiency action plan in cooperation with the Marupe county government and participation at international exhibitions promoting a sustainable environment. The project target group is local residents, students, member of the Association.
Summary of project results
The aim was to improve the knowledge about human security in post-crisis period by organizing trainings, workshops on sustainable environmental benefit and renewable energy. Evaluated existing energy consumption habits. Due to the continuous rise of prices, project promoter looked for solutions for reduction of energy in Marupe region. Developed sustainable energy efficiency plan for Marupe region in cooperation with Latvian solar association. The target group: 3 members,11 volunteers, 211 students, 420 people. Main activities: A study on energy efficiency measures and RES used options Marupe region under Marupe County Sustainable Development Plan collaboration with county municipalities Theoretical lessons and examples of good practice in energy efficiency and renewable energy options county schools Promotion of cooperation, voluntary work Attraction of additional financing to ensure the activities of the organization Results:Seminars on energy efficiency in buildings, sustainable environment, RES use of equipment 81 member 12 lessons of the affected environmental issues from theoretical and practical part Marupes high school, 211 students Designed and prepared a study on energy efficiency measures and the use of RES options Energy efficiency action plan developed under Marupe County sustainable development plan Creation of a new society Latvian Association of solar collectors Popularized volunteering,3 volunteers to research on energy efficiency Marupes region Cooperation with Zemgale energy agencies to promot RES projects Visited the international exhibition Intersolar Europe in Munich.
