Description
Kalniena is getting increasingly barren and without immediate measures taken it will soon cease to exist on the map of Latvia. The project focuses on maintaining and developing activities in Kalniena and encouraging local inhabitants to participate in these activities on long-term basis to promote participation and formation of civil society and preserve population of rural areas. The project activities include furnishing of rooms for events (seminars, meetings, trainings) organized by NGOs and local residents and development of a Kalniena web page. The project will seek to to unite inhabitants of Kalniena, to provide them with information and education necessary to participate in social processes and to implement new initiatives.The Project will help to improve capacity of the NGO and its image in society. Summary of project results
The project takes a lot of different activities, which would not have been possible without this project. The project has given additional resources for everyone Kalniena citizen, on his own initiative in the public interest for realization. Available space for training, the organization of meetings, informal meetings. The association members become more competent in different areas, so it can help with advice. Failed during this period to keep the people here, but looking at the long term, is to promote entrepreneurship, and maybe it will call back those who moved, because the main reason for leaving is lack of jobs. Project activities have stimulated the interest in the history of the area, environmental care and local government decision-making. The project developed Kalniena development strategy which includes an action plan. It held a community forum. There are people who see their future in Kalniena and thay are actively involved. Started work on an information and communication, which certainly continued. Implementation of the project affected both the number of people and their interests change, as well as extensive activities and organizations offer. Initial estimates were optimistic. People's interest and participation impact on global processes in the country. Residents are united and interested in their community development .
