The project strives to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities improving their access to social services and information about ways to participate in democratic process and enjoy their their rights. Contributing to education of persons with disabilities on how to protect their rights is vital for their civic participation. The aim of the project is to promote possibilities of people with special needs to get involved in development of the civil society and to strengthen the organisation's capacity. The project will organize experience exchange events, arrange co-partnerships in political initiatives and provide for arrangements of educational character to increase capacity of the organisation's human resources, encourage NGO cooperation–renew NGO coalition and create a home page. The Project's main target group is people with disabilities.
Summary of project results
Target of the project was to encourage people with disabilities in civil society, strengthening the organizations capacity. The target group were the NGO members, including 10 members of the 12 employees, 8 volunteers and 17 NGO leaders. As well as residents - 13 Valmiera City Council Members, 40 persons with disabilities, and 15 young people (pupils, students). The following results have been achieved: • Participation of other NGOs in educational activities (22x); • Exchange experiences (2x); • Restored to regular operation (19x) social sector NGOs (11) Coalition; civic education of national defense and self-assessment (62 participants); • Participation Development Programme 2015.-2020 design, achieved a positive result; increasing the level of welfare of the population prepared for the Valmiera City Council and social non-governmental organizations and the Memorandum of Cooperation signed / approved by the signatures of both parties (17 NGOs) with an attachment - Valmiera non-governmental organizations and municipal cooperation in the strategic guidelines; • 1 charity event; • Approved 2 project applications for additional financing any organization's goals and regular publicity of the project - ensuring the sustainability of the project results. With particular emphasis on - Valmiera Municipality and social non-governmental organizations signing the MEMORANDUM of cooperation, which will contribute 17 NGO members' well-being and sustainable urban development. Achieved project targets were about target group education about defending their rights and social sphere NGO coalition restoring and work in better quality. Results, that have been achieved in result of project, have promoted development of civil involvance, which is proved by regular coalition sessions and as well participation in social and health sphere committee and council sessions, and in result of political participation we have reached positive conclusion for good of one specific social group- people with mental disorders. Project influence to target group is, and will be, positive- in frames of cooperation memorandum, by realising cooperation qualitative, will be gained higher citizen activity and involvance in development of their life environment and society strengthening.
