Description

The “Youth Policy Guidelines 2009-2018” state that the method of non-formal education–peer education is becoming increasingly popular. This method will be used in the project. The Project aims to promote integration of children and young people from social risk groups in society through voluntary work within international self-development program Award. During the project there will be a 3-day-tuition, where young people from social risk groups will acquire new communication skills with elderly and young people, 6 seminars about project for young people from social service day centers and their parents, a camp based on voluntary work for inhabitants of Engure, a camp footage and cartoon will be prepared about opportunity to engage in Award program activities and mutual cooperation with public institutions and NGO will be promoted. The main project target group is 60 young people and 5-10 families of elderly people.

Summary of project results

The aim of the project - to promote the integration of children and young people at social risk in society by using simple methods of voluntary work during the camp and providing acquiring new skills and abilities within the Award program - is fully achieved. The results achieved within the project: 1) 40 young people from families at social risk have acquired 24 hours (3 days) tuition program. 2) 61 young people have taken part in 6 informative regional workshops for youth in social centres. 3) 60 young people have taken part in 6 days camp and have helped 6 senior families within the camp. 4) An informative short film about the camp has been made. 5) An informative animation movie has been made. 6) 1260 CD copies of informative materials have been disseminated to schools, social services, day centres and youth centres. Informative materials have been published on the Internet. 2 target groups have been covered within the project – 61 young people from families at social risk and 6 senior families who need help in doing garden works. The project has promoted the integration of children and young people from families at social risk in society by using activities of the Award program - voluntary work. The activity of cooperation among adolescents has been improved, young people have acquired new skills and abilities by doing voluntary work, as well as intergenerational cooperation have been promoted by helping old people. In general the results have been achieved as planned. By using results of the project, the project promoter continues similar activities (for example, camps) also after the end of the project.
