Description

The project envisages enhancing public knowledge and understanding of e-mobility related issues. The aim is to provide project target groups with understandable information on the needs for development of e-mobility and benefits for environment, society in general and each user of electric vehicles (EV). The project aims to substantially increase awareness and understanding of target groups of e-mobility issues thus creating favourable conditions for rapid development of e-mobility in Latvia. The following activities are planned: • Research of existing situation: • Public survey on e-mobility; • Workshop using focus group; • Implementation of information campaign: • Development and publishing of e-mobility handbook; • Demonstration of EV possibilities at public events; • Breaking down stereotypes on e-mobility • Information events with participation of well-known personalities; • Publications in mass media, specialised magazines and Internet portals; • Seminars for employees of municipalities, company managers, specialists and high school students; • Participation at environmental and transport conferences and specialised events.

Summary of project results

Project's aim was to increase public knowledge and understanding about e-mobility issues, creating favourable conditions for faster e-mobility development in Latvian that will reduce GHG emissions from internal combustion engine vehicles, and thus contribute to climate change mitigation. Project target groups are municipalities, enterprises, educational institutions, school children, wider public. In order to achieve the planned results, following activities were done: • Research of existing situation and public survey on e-mobility; • Implementation of information campaign: • Development and publishing of e-mobility handbook; • Development and TV broadcasting of information video material; • Demonstration of EV possibilities at public events; • Information events with participation of well-known personalities; • Publications in mass media, specialised magazines and Internet portals; • Seminars for employees of municipalities, company managers, specialists and high school students; • Participation at environmental and transport conferences and specialised events; • Visit to institutions promoting e-mobility and infrastructure objects in Norway. Project's output – information and planning events (seminars and campaigns) carried out. Seminars were attended by specialists from municipalities, e-mobility experts, the Road Traffic Safety Directorate and other interested parties. E-mobility handbook for municipalities and experts of transport sector is developed and available on projects website. Handbook provides understandable information on the needs for development of e-mobility and benefits for environment, society in general and each user of electric vehicle. Handbook covers both electric cars and electric bikes.

Summary of bilateral results

Project was implemented by Baltic Environmental Forum - Latvia in partnership with Ardenis Ltd., Cyclists Union of Latvia, society "Vides Fakti" and Norwegian partner Enmira AS. The project implementation strengthened the capacity and expertise of involved organizations. Latvian Project team visited Norway to learn more about activities implemented in the world’s leading e-mobility country. The programme of the study tour was prepared by Jan Tore Gjøby from the Norwegian project partner Enmira AS.
