Description

JSC “Milviteka” will establish a project which will enable the development of new environmental technology for fruit and vegetables washing. The new technology will enable to improve the quality of fruits and vegetables, reduce product chemical, pesticide and microbiological contamination; decrease the negative impact to the environment of technological processes; to save resources and to strive for efficiency increase by increasing productivity. The innovative vegetable and fruit washing and disinfecting technology line will be developed and submitted to the market. The wash will be conducted without chemical substances, by using ozoning. This will enable the storage term of washed fruits and vegetables by 30-60%, by keeping a better quality of the washed product. The commercialization of the new technology will have great influence to company’s competitiveness in Lithuania as well as its attractiveness abroad.

Summary of project results

JSC "Milviteka" not only develops and manufactures industrial machinery, equipment and products for various industries, but also for many years develops ozonation systems, production of ozone gas generators, implements practical methods and technologies for the application of these gas. In order to remain competitive and meet the specific needs of the food industry, the company is constantly looking for new solutions, actively invests in research&development and co-operates with higher education and research institutions. As a result, in 2015 May the company started the project "Ozone Technologies for Green Innovations". The new technology enabled the customers to improve the quality of products by reducing the chemical, pesticide and microbiological contamination of products, decreased the negative impact of technological processes on the environment, helps to save resources and expenses, and achieve efficiency of work by increasing labor productivity. With new technology wash of fruits and vegetables is conducted without chemical substances, by using ozoning. Using ozone in the processes allows to reduce the consumption of water normally used for washing products up to 40-60% (depending on product washed). The new washing method also enables the storage term of washed fruits and vegetables by 30-60%, by keeping a better quality of the washed product. In 2016 JSC „Milviteka“ successfully completed the project "Ozone Technologies for Green Innovations", which created a new technology for ozone gas washing of fruits and vegetables. The commercialization of the new technology will have great influence to company’s competitiveness in Lithuania as well as its attractiveness abroad (Baltic States, Scandinavia, Russia, Poland, Spain and etc.). The project is directly related to company’s innovative activities and adds to implementation of sustainable development principles.
