Description

The project will ensure that the existing technological process that was significantly improved and installed allows reducing the company's environmental impact and increase the efficiency of natural resource usage. As the result of this project in Lithuania the first small-size bus refueling stations for methane-hydrogen blends will be installed. During the project implementation, JSC "SG dujos" is planning to acquire and install three equipment sets in Ukmergė, Marijampolė, and Telšiai. The technological process consists of production of CNG (Compressed Natural Gas), of preparation of CNG (cleaning and drying), hydrogen generator, the CNG and hydrogen mixer, hydro methane compressor and a storage module. The project will have a significant impact to the quality of production of CNG. It is estimated that emission of carbon dioxide to the environment is reduced by 95.69 tons by adding 10 per cent of hydrogen to the CNG and. The implemented technology is innovative within the Lithuanian market technological process.

Summary of project results

The main activity of JSC “SG dujos” is production of compressed natural gas (CNG). During the project implementation JSC “SG dujos” significantly improved the existing CNG production processes in order to reduce their impact on the environment and natural resources, increased efficiency and gave the market a green product innovation, improved product of CNG – hydro methane (H2CNG). The problems that have caused the need for the project were: demand for new technologies that would enable to produce low-cost environmentally friendly fuel; rising fuel produced from oil prices; the requirements of EU to increase the use of environmentally friendly fuels; the necessity of improvement of company's competitiveness and the business environment; the degree of innovation of product in Lithuania and in the EU; provide economic, environmental and social benefits of product for to the consumer. During the project implementation 3 equipment sets that significantly improve the parameters of fuel production process and functional characteristics level were procured and installed. Taking the advantage of support from Norway, three hydro-methane production modules were equipped in Lithuania – in Telšiai, Marijampolė and Ukmergė, the bus fleets of these towns have already used successfully these ecological fuel modules for over one year. During the initial ecsploatation period (10 million kilometers), innovation will save 360 tons of CO2 emissions, which is 23% less comparing with emissions while using diesel. The added value of the project: a direct benefit of the project is felt by the venture partners, suppliers, customers. During the project implementation significantly improved the existing CNG production technological processes will let to produce innovative, high value-added products, providing economic and environmental benefits to both the consumer and the general population. One of the most important result of this project - it is the first real opportunity to fill vehicles with the hydrogen in Lithuania. The implemented project will ensure a quick return on investment in time, create highly skilled jobs and provide economic benefits to the enterprise. The project reduced dependence on expensive imported oil resources, thus reducing the country's energy dependence, as well as reduce the use of fossil fuels, promote environmentally-friendly technologies and products.
