Description

The need of aircraft maintenance and repair specialists significantly increased in Kaunas as new aircraft maintenance and repair hangars were opened. Public Institution Kaunas Mechanical School is the only vocational school of technological profile around the Kaunas region, preparing specialists of aircraft maintenance and repair. Therefore in order to avoid such situation it is necessary to have well educated and competent specialists in this field and the problem could be solved by implementing this Project. Lithuania lacks qualified specialists who have good knowledge in modern aircraft repair and maintenance specifics and could carry out this necessary work. Due to the same reason it is also important to improve the competence of specialists-lecturers that they could pass their knowledge to those studying according to aircraft repairer’s program. Seminars in Lithuania and Iceland will deepen the knowledge of participants in the area of aircraft mechanics and give a chance to share the work and practical training experience. This will improve theoretical knowledge of the project participants. However, the project is aiming to improve application of the knowledge in real-life conditions as well. The project participants could share other country‘s experience as during practical training visits to industrial enterprises will be organized and this will broaden the ability to apply knowledge and experience in practical situations. The internships of participants in Lithuania and Iceland and preparation of two new modules will create a significant contribution into the vocational education of aircraft mechanics in both countries. The project partner will bring unique experience and introduce the methodology used in Icelandic vocational education institutions. One of the most important parts of the project is direct exchange of experience and knowledge between Lithuanian and Icelandic vocational education institutions specialists and students.
