Description

The project's aim is to improve the quality of professional interdisciplinary art in Lithuania by employing the means of cultural dissemination, international cooperation and initiation of cultural co-production. Within the framework of the project, the applicant RUPERT and the partners Oslo National Academy of the Arts (KHiO) and Reykjavik’s exhibition space The Living Art Museum (Nylo) attempt to create and present high quality interdisciplinary art works to Lithuanian and international audiences, thus improving interdisciplinary art knowledge among the general public of Lithuania. Young artists will create seven new works by developing the subject of politics as an area involving emotion. The form of this project is going to be an exhibition travelling between Vilnius, Visaginas, Pabrade, Oslo and Reykjavik. The project also foresees different educational activities: one workshop for children living in Pabrade Children’s Foster Home, another workshop for young persons up to 25 that draw attention to the principles of anti-discrimination and tolerance, and five public lectures.

Summary of project results

Three organisations, from Iceland, Lithuania and Norway, have created an interdisciplinary art exhibition on depression and vulnerability. The double bind, a situation in which a person is confronted with two contradictory demands or forced to choose between equally unsatisfactory alternatives, became its entry point. The exhibition showcasing new art works of nine artists was presented in Vilnius, Pabradė, Visaginas, Oslo and Reykjavik. It was accompanied by creative workshops, lectures and a publication with contributions by Florian Cramer, Travis Jeppesen, Nina Power, Joshua Simon and Marina Vishmidt. The project was aimed at improving the quality of professional interdisciplinary art in Lithuania by employing the means of cultural dissemination, international cooperation and initiation of cultural co-production (project curators - Maya Tounta and Justė Jonutytė).
