Description

Generally the use of electronic glass waste is unresolved, and the electronic plastic residue can only be sold at a very low price. There are a couple of international solutions for using glass and/or plastic residue in the production of concrete based product. The novelty of this project is the joint usage of the two materials. The project aims to develop a technology that enables to use the plastic and glass residue of electronic waste in the production of concrete products to the building industry. Parallel by adding glass and plastic additives, it is important to improve the quality of concrete products and reuse parts of the waste placed at the landfills before. It also important to emphasise that the project is located in a disadvantaged part of Hungary where the unemployment rate is quite high. Due to the improvment of a production capacity in the project, new workplaces will be created. Besides, the project partner is the Hungarian Maltese Charity who has a factory at the same place employing underprivileged people and dealing with disassembling of electronic wastes which can be reuse in the framework of this project.

Summary of project results

The project aimed to develop a technology that enables the user to use the plastic and glass residue of an electronic waste disposal process in concrete based products to the building industry. Parallel by adding glass and plastic additives, to improve the quality of concrete products and reuse parts of the waste place at the landfill. This project focused to develop a methods and products from waste/by-product to allow secondary raw material using. This project contributes to the environmental goals of the European Union and creates new jobs as well. This project had a Hungarian project partner only but there is no donor partner.
