Description

The purpose of the project is to understand the motivation of the young generation for vocational education in the metal industry. The aim of the mobility visit is job shadowing on vocational education and an exchange of experiences for education of international welding engineer/technologist/specialist and welders. With a better understanding how vocational training education is set up in the donor countries, the participants will be able to improve the national vocational education of the beneficiary country. The output of the project will be a best practice document that will communicate a harmonized position of the 3 participating nations. This best practice document will be publicized and presented on the forums and conferences in all participant countries. The donor partners will play an important role in the presentations of their experiences and in the job shadowing and will contribute to the best practice document.

Summary of project results

It is an ongoing process to develop new methods for the education of young students to become a certified welder and being prepared Europe wide activities in different weather circumstances as well. In this context, the curriculum should be updated and good for making more general application. The curriculum should be valid for different European geological regions as well. This visit to North Europe gave important inputs how welding could be used in open air activities – e.g. welding pipelines for heating, what kind of tools are available for boring several thousand meters in the deep to reach warm/hot water and steam and how surfacing by welding can make longer the lifetime of tools used. In this context, it is very important to know how welding industry is accommodating to severe weather circumstances. It was possible to study the activity of a “welder school” and to know the system how welder’s education is going on and how this system is in connections to the EU welding system. This type of cooperation and exchange of technical experience is able to give new points of views for development of our Hungarian and European curriculum as well. The Nordic part of Europe is very special because of weather circumstances. It does not need to explain the rainy, windy cold weather and welding in connection with each-other. The possibility to visit several industrial objects and having opportunities to know the practice when using corrosion resistant steels for production machinery for food industry and visit areas where open-air pipeline welding activity is done and visiting welder’s school and to know teaching system used and also visiting the Ministry for Education and there to get a general overview - we can declare that we could collect several useful practical knowledge regarding welder’s education, industrial activities on open-air pipeline welding if weather was cold, windy and rainy etc. Even we can know how equipment and what types are in commercial activities preferred and used for welder’s education. We got inputs on the curriculum used for welder’s education, some inputs on overlay welding. All of our beneficiaries were published in journal for welding technics (Hegesztéstechnika) of MHtE.

Summary of bilateral results

The cooperation with Icelandic partner was prepared in time and was a harmonious activity between two partners. The cooperation with Norwegian partner was prepared in time and for the Hungarian participants there were a successfully professional visiting in Norway, but for the Norwegian partner was not enough time to organise 5 partners in time to come to Hungary . The project has strengthened the bilateral relations – even not only during IT connections but also the Nordic welder’s team in the last month visited several objects in Hungary and when they returned home they have sent a greeting letter on achievement of MHtE’s activity and asked help to the organization a new trip into Hungary even during summer of 2017. The cooperation seems to be a continuous one. The main achievement s were to know welder’s education system had the opportunity to look at the printed books and annotation, equipment and to know the basic strategy and risk assessment activities. The practical plant business organization in steel construction producing factory and machine production for food industry products are from corrosion resistant steel – this company is one of the world best one and has an affiliated company in Slovakia very near to Hungarian border.According our estimation there will be a cooperation in the future and this type of exchange of experience was specially for both parties. The partners requested our slights on welding of duplex steel and Hungarian education system etc. They visited welder’s school in Visonta as well and were satisfied with the Hungarian contribution. The common activities were made in a transparent way in Iceland and in Hungary as well. There was a very good impression on welder’s education workshop, classroom and different welding equipments. Beside the professional learning material the health and safety knowledge is as important as the welding professional ones – and the health and safety equipments are available in the welding boxes as well. All these instruments are on such a level which is in some cases higher than that ones in Hungary.
