Description

The Corvinus University of Budapest has had a continuous and permanent partnership with Norwegian universities for several years. Thanks to the EEA grants, and in order to strengthen diversity, the university will be able to increase the number of incoming mobility. As a result of this, more Hungarian students can participate in scholarship programmes and study in Norway. the aim of the project is to establish institutional cooperation with our partners at all levels of the education sector. This will allow for an increase international mobility, for cooperation and development of the education sector, for flexibility and a closer linkage between institutions for research and education, and for financial support for education projects. The expected results for the Corvinus University of Budapest is a higher quality of education via internationalisation, integrated policies at implementation level, pooling of resources, increased international learning mobility and cooperation, and the facilitation of long-lasting institutional bilateral cooperation.

Summary of project results

The Corvinus University of Budapest – one of the leading universities in business, economics and social sciences both in Central-Eastern Europe and in Hungary – due to its internationalization strategy, its participation in international mobility programs is of crucial importance. Within the EEA Grants Program, the Corvinus University of Budapest would like to foster cooperation with regards to higher education between the donor and beneficiary countries. The long term goals include promoting economic, social and cultural cooperation between the countries. Furthermore, promoting international mobility and building up partnerships with the higher-education institutions with the donor countries. Last, but not least, promoting cooperation in the professional field and in research. All in all, not only the countries, but specific institutions such as the Corvinus University of Budapest could deepen its relations with Norway. The short-term goals are manifested in the personal development of participating students and staff. In this regard, the EEA Grants Program was a good framework, since 17 outgoing part-time exchanges, 2 internships and 1 institutional visit were achieved in Norway (for Liechtenstein and Iceland, institutional visits were achieved during the second round of calls, and we hope for the future this will also include student and staff mobility). We also expect that the Corvinus University of Budapest will continue to be part of more call for applications, as an integral and active part of the EEA Grants Program. This ensures the continuing future success of the countries and institutions in higher education.

Summary of bilateral results

Within the first round of calls, the Corvinus University of Budapest had the chance to visit its all 4 Erasmus+ partner institutions in Norway, which is a positive result. These are the following institutions: the BI Norwegian Business School, Oslo, the University of Oslo, Department of Sociology and Human Geography, the NHH Norwegian School of Economics, Bergen and the University of Stavanger. The cooperation with these institutions has been a continuing success for many years now. With the University of Oslo and the NHH Norwegian School of Economics, Bergen the cooperation has been ongoing in Erasmus+ for more than a decade. The latter institution is also part of the elite network of CEMS (Community of European Management Schools) and both institutions are active in outgoing and incoming student mobility programs, too. With the BI Norwegian Business School and the University of Stavanger, the Erasmus+ contract was signed in 2011 and 2012, where the student mobility is also an active part of the program. Due to the EEA Grants Program, we were able to undergo an institutional visit to Norway, during which we got to know the international strategy of our partners and the processes which we can use as „best practice” at home. The partner institutions in Norway were also glad to hear about the internationalization processes at the Corvinus University of Budapest. With regards to the results mentioned above, both the donor countries institutions and the Corvinus University of Budapest believe that continued cooperation must go on with the help of the indispensable EEA Grants Program.
