Description

The project goals and objectives are the social closing up of the local community in the suburb called Gesztenyés, facilitating their income raising abilities and therefore decreasing the unemployment rate in the suburb. Primarily the target group consists of 8 job seekers, chosen from the local community, secondarily the whole population of the suburb. The project activities are the readjustment and utilization of 2 separate agricultural areas, including the saving of the native maroon area. Meanwhile the 8 person get proper qualification and income. Later the cultivated plants on the area can be marketed via the social society, which provides a steady, long-term income. As a result the collectively established values will enhance partnership, social integration and serves a new attitude for a suburbian society that struggles with crisis over 20 years.

Summary of project results

The project aimed the social closing up of the local community in the suburb called Gesztenyés, facilitating their income raising abilities and therefore decreasing the unemployment rate in the suburb. In the framework of the project 11 local underprivileged residents took part in an 500 hour long agricultural training, 7 of them acquired the certificate and got skills and knowledge which help them to lead a sustainable life. In the framework of the project local volunteers were working on four different agricultural areas. The plants they raised were partly taken over by a local company and the other part of it was shared among the volunteers.Two community events were organized during the project period.By the first one local volunteers built five flower islands in order to beutify the suburb.The second event was the Chestnut Festival which served the purpose of presenting the local values for the local people and people of the city to create a more positive image of the area.
