Description

Civil organizations dealing with people who are copying with alcoholism are neglected; the motivation for innovation is low. The lack of networks characterizes the sector. The main objective of the project is to strengthen the member organizations, to assist their effective development and make them able to involve more members. It also aims to develop the communication thus to reach broader publicity, because the number of abstinent persons in the target groups of these organizations is constantly growing. The project promoter has two kinds of publication that will be improved and regularly publicized. The project promoter wants to ensure the availability of the member organizations, the equal chances and the visibility and to broaden the network with inter-sectoral and international partners. Conferences, forums, country-wide programs, consulting hours and patient visiting groups will be hold. The primarily target group includes patients who are under treatment or already rehabilitated and abstinent.

Summary of project results

Civil organizations dealing with people who are copying with alcoholism are neglected; the motivation for innovation is low, the lack of networks characterizes the sector. The main objective of the project was to strengthen the member organizations, to assist their effective development and make them able to involve more members, and it also aimed to develop the communication thus to reach broader publicity, because the number of abstinent persons in the target groups of these organizations is constantly growing. The project promoter organized 21 regional forums and 3 country-wide events in order to let the member organizations to introduce themselves and their work. The forums made possible to elaborate such topics that personally motivates and develops the members (e.g. trainings, lectures and testimony of recovered members) and they ensured the possibility for networking. Activist of the association regularly visited rehabilitation groups: during the project about 29-50 times per groups (5 groups in 4 towns) which motivated addicted people (e.g. testimonies) and encouraged them to join to member organizations so their recovery would be supported by a self-help group. Beside the several media appearances from the programs, the project promoter edited its own Newsletter titled Club news. The management and members of the presidency of the association were responsible for editing the Club news which usually included interviews from the programs and articles in the topic. The project promoter aimed to develop international networks which partially were successful. Although the cooperation with a German organization was not realized during the project implementation however the cooperation with Intact Herstel en Zelfhulp organization from the Netherlands is promising: representatives already took part in 2 countrywide programs. The project contributed to the visibility of member organizations and to bring the knowledge level of members to the same level. According to the project promoter’s experience the alcoholism is not a popular theme people refuse to talk about it thus it is hard to find supporters. With the help of the project the media was reached thus the importance of self-help groups was communicated to a wider audience.
