Summary of project results

The segregated schools deepen the disadvantages of Roma children. Children with different skills and different social backgrounds need differentiated but integrated educational environment. The main objective of the project was to realize an educational environment that ensures social network thus the non-formal and informal learning methods will be available and will improve the children’s skills. The project was implemented in line with its objective as the “You have a place” system was elaborated and among parents, tutors and pedagogies good relationship was formed. The project helped to present that the anti-segregation is not an individual issue thus it should be a part of public education and the school-system. It is a great result that all the children (20) who applied to higher leveled schools succeeded, that means they can attend schools according to their wish that means a 100% success rate. Many people contributed to that result with their work: 12 teachers, 4 tutors, 2 special education teachers, music and sport educators were involved. With the help of the project, the supporting and developing environment became more accessible for the involved children. The project ensured tutoring which helped in reducing educational disadvantages, and the development of several competencies contributed to reduce the number of drop-outs. Families, communities were actively involved and connected to the institutions. The project contributed to the sustainability of the elaborated system (and the continuous work with the disadvantaged children), and to broaden the offered services of the project promoter.
