Summary of project results

It is problems in the country that the civil sector is market-based, organizations operate isolated and provide services instead of transferring values. They lack equipment of the effective operations thus the advocacy skills are weak and grass-root initiations fail, and the activities of these organizations are mainly adjusted according to the call for proposals. The main objective of the project was to increase the usage of the radio -run by the association- and the number of alliances and collaboration among civil organizations. In the situation analysis 30 interviews were recorded. In order to involve new members, several programs were organized like open days, radio party, lectures etc. The community building training helped to understand the different social matters and learn about the adoptability of community building methods considering these matters. The Radio training ensured theoretical and practical knowledge to the participants; and these training also ensured the experience exchange with two other civic radio members. The reorganizing of the radio was successful, so beside the music shows, the Sub Radio broadcasts 10 new civic shows and local civic events as well. It is a great result that socially vulnerable groups could join and let their voice heard; for instance “Vakera” titled show is about the equal opportunities of visually impaired people in public transport and cultural events. The closing event was also about social issues, there were presentations and participants played the so-called ‘Sociopoly’ sensitizing game. The radio shows popularized the work of civil society organizations thus the local inhabitants are more aware of the sector, the organizations and their activities.
