Summary of project results

The mills of Pápateszer were revealed with the help of an earlier EEA/Norway grant. People were still interested in the results in Pápateszer. Thus the project promoter expected from this present project that the community of Water-mill fans became nationwide. The main objective was to strengthen the Foundation, to develop the communities and organizations in the settlements near Pápa and with the works of unrevealing of the old mills near Sály. The project implementation started with a kick off meeting in which they appointed volunteers who became responsible for mills. A research was concluded which revealed that there were 17 mills in the neighbourhood of Pápateszer and 13 ones in Sály. After the digitalization of the related documents, volunteers and involved pupils explored these mills and made situation analysis of them. In this exploratory research the local Roma Minority Government and the local primary school cooperated. All the results were summarized and documented: even a book about the watermills of Sály was edited, lectured and published. The project promoter launched a 2 rounded competition in which competitors (13) competed in 2 age categories – ca. 50 people visited the events. Significant knowledge was accumulated that gave more common values for the local people. The owners of the watermills were cooperative, and fortunately many other stakeholders could join to the project: volunteers, unemployed inhabitants, youth and the owners’ families. The exploratory work had a community building outcome what the project promoter would like to develop further thus the method will be popularized.
