Description

Magdolna Club is a project For and Pro Women. The club’s (project's) goal is to support women in a sensitive target group, living in the Magdolna (8th) district of Budapest, to increase their self-worth, competences and advocacy. It also activates professional cooperation, i.e. with NaNe Association, Women’s-House Association (Nagykanizsa), Women’s House (Miskolc), Public Association of Roma Women, and Hungarian Women’s Advocacy Association. By the end of the project, recommendations and protocols will be developed to support women of this vulnerable social group. Main activities: trainings for women and experts, support, mental health care, mentoring, advocacy groups in punishment institutions, legal consultation, common actions, extensive communication. Expected project results: target women are able to resume their life and convert their marginality; increase the power of community while decreasing the sense of helplessness and vulnerability. Active participation in social actions and by experts.

Summary of project results

The goals of the project were to support women from vulnerable target groups, to develop their self-esteem, competencies and advocacy skills, and to activate their professional cooperation in this topic and field. The organization’s professional protocol about the helping of women representing a vulnerable social group was elaborated at the end of the project. Activities: trainings for women and specialties, helping work, mental health care, mentoring, groups in penal institutions, legal counselling, joint actions, extensive communication. 146 women were involved in the project at all, 67 women were in a helping relationship, 7 licensed trainings had been implemented with 61 participants at all, 3 licensed trainings had been held to develop professional participants in the subject of domestic violence and tolerance strengthening, and 2 groups had been implemented to women in penal institutions. 2 publications can be read in the project webpage (www.valtosav.hu)
