Description

People from state care institutions are practically constrained to prostitution after leaving the child protection institution-structures. These problems are neglected by the public opinion, and it is rather hard to bring pressure on the decision makers regarding this matter. In cooperation with a group of young people living in state custody, we will aim to construct artistic creations, productions, which will all culminate in a theater play. Our activities will be escorted by social and traditional media campaign, online and also offline. Besides our own presentations, we will also use the stand- and viewpoint of expert, professional organizations in order to bring attention to this matter and also to influence the general opinion. Our messages will also be addressed to our target audience, the decision makers. The presentations will represent an elevated values themselves, furthermore taking part in this project will hopefully effect the involved participants in a positive way.

Summary of project results

The „Utolsó Vonal” [Final Line] Foundation in Hungary wanted to take action against child prostitution with the tools of art. The aim of the „Árvaálom” [Orphan Dream] project was to draw society’s attention to this serious problem through an art performance. Girls living in foster care are highly exposed to the risk of becoming the subject of prostitution. Trafo by providing place, gave the opportunity for the cooperation with professional performers, who could show the life of sex-workers with heartbreaking honesty in front a full house. The aim of the play and the media release about it was to raise the awareness of broader layers of the society showing that no one becomes a sex worker from his or her own will or just because of sexual exaltation. The workshops in the children’s home at Esztergom the girls who were involved solved general competence developer exercises as well as they were processing their own lives during the making of the play.
