Description

We make it clear what is acceptable in the relation of education and politics and what is not. None of the actors in education suffer disadvantage because of their political views. Teachers will be able to prevent and resolve conflicts of fundamental rights teachers. We pass our expertise to teachers on trainings. We conduct an educational and awareness-raising campaign. We publish a recommendation and case studies. We are available in individual cases and we give help in enforcement of rights. We create an interactive web interface. Our partner is The Association of Hungarian History Teachers. We will contact other civil organizations of teachers. The teachers’ knowledge and enforcement activity will increase. Parents and teachers can turn to someone, who can prevent or resolve conflicts of fundamental rights arising from the presence of party politics in schools. Teachers and school leaders who participated in training will be able to manage these problems effectively.

Summary of project results

Education for democracy is one of the most important duties of public education. However in order to ensure the particularly vulnerable rights of people participating in education, politics appearing in public educational institutions should be taken place within a clearly set framework and party politics should be forbidden. The Eötvös Károly Institution (EKINT) and the Association of Hungarian History Teachers (TTE) together launched a one-year comprehensive programme from 1st April 2015 in order to make it clear for the public and the educational communities what is acceptable and what is not in a democracy in connection with the relationship of school and politics. Their aim was that no one would be disadvantaged in public education because of his/her political views.Teachers have a key role in ensuring the rights of children, parents and fellow teachers therefore we launched a training program which develops their professional skills and competences.
