Description

The good practice of inclusive education is very low in Hungary. The main goal of our project is to translate and adapt Nyborg's Concept Teaching Method into Hungarian schools in order to develop the cognitive capacities of children in Hungary. Professor Nyborg has been a very famous pedagogue at the University of Oslo. To prove the efficiency of the program we will do a representative research which will be published in the high prestige journals in Hungary. As the main core of the project an intensive therapy program will be carried out in kindergartens and primary schools where special need children are also included. Approximately 60-100 children will take part in our intervention. Our main activity will be to prepare the Hungarian translation of CTM and to publish the research through a half year period. We will execute the program together with our Norwegian partner organization (Pedeverket) so the data gained in Hungary will be available for Norwegian researchers as well.

Summary of project results

Hungary is lacking good cognitive acceleration programs which could effectively promote the integration of different disadvantaged children. In the framework of the project an effective Norwegian cognitive educational program, the Concept Teaching Method of Magne Nyborg has been applied in two kindergardens and a school. At the beginning of the project 12 Hungarian professionals have thoroughly been trained by a Norwegian institution in Concept Teaching, these professionals offered later Concept Teaching sessions to 60 small children in 6 groups. In each group a small child with cognitive disability has also been included. At the beginning and at the end of the intervention program the cognitive performance of all children has been assessed, controll groups were included. At the end of the project the tests showed great results. In comparison with the controll group data, the children involved showed two times higher development in their fluid intelligence and language skills.
