Description

Organ transplantation and the prior illness throw children’s biological, psychological and social condition off balance. They must face pain, maybe death, accept the new organ, live with prohibitions and a changed body image, depression and problems with learning. Healing stories facilitate the mental processing of the transplant experience, promoting equal opportunities and the re-integration of the children. By the end of the project, we expect that children successfully process their traumas and will be able to lead happy, healthy lives. The result is a toolkit consisting of a booklet of healing stories+ creative/developmental therapeutic sessions helping children with transplanted organs process their psychological traumas. Our direct target group are children from 0 to 14 years with transplanted organs and indirectly, their family members. We will to inform foreign partner organization continuously during the project, disseminate results among them and offer the method for re-utilization.

Summary of project results

The main aim of the project was to provide support for 0-14 aged children after transplantation and for their families by tale therapy affecting their unconscious levels, helping to process the psychic trauma of transplantation and promoting the social reintegration of the children. A supporting book of tales developed to foster the effectiveness of the project, that used in the therapy as well. The developed method and the story book can be used by other organisation supporting the rehabilitation of children after transplantation.
