Description

The project’s goal is to address the following general problems on the local level: lack of knowledge on natural values and factors that endanger them, the lack of knowledge on ecological processes and their socio-economical impacts, the lack of knowledge on everyday practices available for the reduction or management of environmental and nature protection problems. The grantee will organize and provide various formal and in-formal educative learning opportunities in Veresegyháza and in its surroundings for the general public with a special focus on kindergarten and primary school students in order to shape attitudes towards conservation issues, strengthen provincialism and social responsibility, and to improve environmental awareness of local society. The activities will include field excursions and games, publishing conservation brochures, lecturing and conducting a campaign via local communication channels (TV, newspapers, social media).

Summary of project results

The project aimed at preserving and awareness raising on local natural values in Veresegyháza endangered by certain unsustainable (sub)urbanization and lifestyle trends connected to the low levels of everyday ecological atuitutes and knowledge. Working together with 6 kindegardens and a primary school nearly 400 pupils were involved in in- and outdoor environmental education activities that involved a newly developed treasure hunt game, several site visits, field work excercises as well as the production of a new educative video.
