Description

The project aims to allow civil society organizations working in the field of HIV/AIDS to create services in collaboration with state service providers for marginalized groups, and ensure they are efficient and sensitive to these groups’ needs. We also aim to establish a strong advocacy coalition that can react to human rights abuses and the deterioration of health status of affected groups. The direct target group is vulnerable groups (sex workers, LGBT, drug users, etc.) Indirect target group: state and civil service providers, affected communities. Activities: 1. Development of non-stigmatizing, tolerant screening services, 2. Screening and counseling for marginalized groups, 3. Involvement of affected communities in prevention, 4. Enhancing the capacity of Civil AIDS Forum and policy monitoring. Our expected results are more efficient cooperation among Civil AIDS Forum members and stronger advocacy, more sensitized and accessible state services and more mobilized local affected communities.

Summary of project results

In the frame of the project target groups, members of vulenrable groups (LGBT people, sex workers and drug users) have participated in HIV/AIDS screening services in different towns of Hungary. These activities have been prepared and supported by the development of the volunteers of these target groups, who have participated in workshops, trainings, supervision and other events in order they can start the screening and counselling in their own towns. Beside the development of friendly screening and counselling service in the country side, it was also important to lobby for the HIV strategy in Hungary, which doesn't exist at all this moment and inform the professionals of this field. During the project more than 1400 persons have received service.
