Description

EBOX is the first step of a new way of monitoring and managing energy use. Energy demand measurement and management is key to maximizing energy efficiency in any application environment, and this can easily be achieved using a hardware device capable of providing information to any mobile device. The EBOX technology will be able to adapt to the evolution of new technologies with different user profiles, in order to be independent of the system. The equipment, which will be remotely configured and oriented to the measurement of electrical variables, will send the information to the external device. This external device, by using software adapted to the needs of each user, will develop and interpret information. The scope of this project includes the development of the EBOX equipment, a signal analysis mobile application to evaluate the quality of a transformer magnetic circuit, and a mobile application of diagnostic and prediction for small groups of turbines.

Summary of project results

The project sought to collect information from hardware equipment and use it in the development of energy demand management tools, specifically designing algorithms to enable mobile devices to function as energy management applications. The project has included development of the equipment, an application of quality analysis in transformers and a diagnostic and prediction application for domestic wind turbines. The information obtained can be used by electrical technicians to identify problems in the application's installation, enabling them to propose improvements in the manufacturing process or helping them predict future issues. With the designed measurement Hardware and Firmware designed, any mobile device can used as a tool for managing energy use and improving a system's energy efficiency, depending on the processing algorithm in the application. Several prototypes were developed to obtain the final product, which consists of a hardware/firmware that is controllable through mobile applications. As a result of the project CIRCUTOR has been able to incorporate this new device in its catalog, without competitive replica: the system is attached to the installation under study, and performs an encrypted acquisition and sending of data, so that it can be collected, conditioned and handled by a mobile device (Android or iOS). Thanks to this user-friendly technology, energy consumers themselves can perform continuous energy management.
